Ripple Just Moved 100M XRP In a Single Transaction. Something Big Coming?

Ripple completed an on-chain transfer of 100 million XRP on October 5, with the sum valued at roughly $149 million.

Crypto analyst Xaif (@Xaif_Crypto) shared the transaction specifics on X, prompting immediate attention from the XRP community. Xaif stated directly: “Something is definitely moving behind the scenes.”

The significance of the transfer was heightened by its timing, occurring only days after a scheduled escrow release. Ripple manages a predictable escrow program that unlocks XRP at set intervals, meaning a movement of this scale right after an unlock naturally draws attention.

Is Ripple Selling XRP?

For a long time, critics of XRP have blamed Ripple’s treasury operations for creating selling pressure, claiming the firm sells XRP for profit at the expense of the community. A $149 million transaction surfacing days following an escrow unlock aligns with the narrative critics frequently raise.

Whale activity has always been common within the XRP ecosystem, and as the largest whale by far, Ripple commands more on-chain scrutiny than any other entity.

Because Ripple maintains the largest XRP reserves of any single holder, large-scale transfers quickly trigger selloff theories among those who are already skeptical of the initiative.

Details of the Transaction

Three distinct signers authorized the transaction, validating a multi-signature approval before it was broadcast. Demonstrating XRP’s minimal transaction costs, the fee came to just 0.00040 XRP, and the complete 100,000,000 XRP arrived successfully.

Interestingly, both the sending and receiving wallets belong to Ripple. This points to a standard internal transfer between two addresses managed by Ripple. The tokens were not sent to any exchange, and no market sell order was placed. Consequently, the transaction points to internal treasury management rather than a broader market event.

Ripple conducts its scheduled escrow releases to provide market transparency regarding circulating supply. Large internal movements following these events align with how the company handles its operational reserves.

Where XRP Goes From Here

Following this transfer, the community will keep a close eye on Ripple’s wallet tracking. Now that the destination wallet holds the tokens, any future activity from that address will spark the next wave of speculation.

At present, there is no on-chain proof to substantiate the selloff rumors. Even so, the event demonstrates that Ripple actively manages capital on a massive scale, keeping the market firmly focused on its movements.
