A prominent global financial institution has taken a step that highlights increasing trust in digital assets.
X Finance Bull (@Xfinancebull), a crypto commentator, broke the news to his followers on X, revealing that Standard Chartered now provides institutional custody for Ripple USD (RLUSD) on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).
This live service operates through the bank’s DIFC Branch, which holds regulation under the Dubai Financial Services Authority.
Custody, Collateral and Capital Efficiency
Qualified clients can now utilize Standard Chartered’s infrastructure for digital asset custody regarding RLUSD. Furthermore, the financial institution is collaborating with Ripple and LMAX Group to qualify RLUSD as eligible collateral across selected LMAX Group products and solutions that handle trading and collateral management.
This framework permits clients to reflect collateral value onto LMAX Group without needing to move the base RLUSD straight to the trading platform. Consequently, institutions gain enhanced flexibility regarding how they store and utilize digital assets, experience lower operational risks associated with transfers, and benefit from boosted capital efficiency.

XRP Stands to Gain
Because RLUSD operates on the XRP Ledger, every institutional application centered around RLUSD reinforces the underlying network that XRP relies upon. As financial institutions and trading platforms integrate RLUSD for settlement and collateral purposes, the XRPL integrates more deeply into worldwide financial operations.
Waqar Chaudry, who serves as the Global Head of Digital Assets at Standard Chartered, noted that the objective is to assist clients in integrating “digital assets more confidently into their broader financial activities.” Integrating a regulated stablecoin inside a dependable custody framework delivers precisely the environment institutional players require before deploying capital.
LMAX and Ripple Add Institutional Depth
Luke Dorney, the Head of Custody and Digital Assets at LMAX Group, verified that the organization implemented Standard Chartered’s collateral mirroring architecture to grant clients “greater flexibility in how they hold and deploy RLUSD across our cross-asset marketplace.” LMAX caters to buy-side institutions, funds, banks, and asset managers spanning over 100 nations.
Jack McDonald, Ripple’s SVP of Stablecoins, stated that RLUSD “was built for exactly this kind of institutional use case.” Merging RLUSD on the XRP Ledger alongside Standard Chartered’s custody services and the trading framework of LMAX establishes a realistic route for institutions to deploy stablecoins across international markets.

Standard Chartered’s Role Is Hard to Ignore
The participation of Standard Chartered holds genuine importance owing to its immense size and regulatory credibility. Its choice to offer custody for RLUSD brings the token into the identical framework that institutions already depend upon for traditional finance.
X Finance Bull highlighted the collateral integration as an important milestone to monitor specifically for XRP. Finalizing these upcoming capabilities depends on future testing, documentation, and regulatory alignment, with additional updates anticipated as rollout efforts move forward.
