This Mystery Wallet Is the 8th-Largest XRP Account In the World

An unknown cryptocurrency address holding over 1.8 billion tokens has become the eighth-largest account on the XRP Ledger, leaving analysts questioning the true owner behind the multi-billion-dollar balance.

This Mystery Wallet Is the 8th-Largest XRP Account In the World

An unknown XRP address has risen to become one of the top accounts on the XRP Ledger, currently containing over 1.8 billion XRP valued at approximately $2.7 billion based on current market rates.

Digital asset analyst Steph Is Crypto drew attention to the address via Twitter, highlighting that the owner’s identity is not publicly known. Sitting in the eighth spot among XRP accounts, the wallet now shares the leaderboard with prominent exchange addresses and Ripple-affiliated accounts.

Mystery Wallet Holds 1.8 Billion XRP

The specific address, rJ9Ey7HbscSECamgDRzvw5wrVbFUgaUDt7, contains about 1,801,172,630 XRP. Valued at XRP prices ranging from $1.50 to $1.55, the total worth equates to roughly $2.7 billion to $2.8 billion.

This cache represents about 1.8% of the total 100 billion XRP supply. Its standing on the XRP Ledger rich list is particularly significant because only seven other accounts currently possess a larger balance.

The top six positions are held by Ripple-associated operational and escrow wallets, each containing roughly 5 billion XRP. Meanwhile, a wallet belonging to Bithumb occupies the seventh spot with approximately 1.815 billion XRP. This anonymous wallet sits closely behind in eighth place, ranking ahead of accounts operated by Binance and Upbit.

Referred to as a “MYSTERY WALLET” by Steph Is Crypto, the analyst underscored the fact that public records offer no clues regarding who controls it.

Wallet History Reveals Large XRP Deposits

Although on-chain data sheds light on the wallet’s activity timeline, it fails to unveil the identity behind it. Information sourced from Bithomp and XRPSCAN indicates that the address first became active on December 1, 2024, following a small initial transfer of 10 XRP.

A substantially larger transfer followed in April 2026. An inbound deposit of roughly 35.2 million XRP pushed its total holdings past the 1 billion token milestone, fueling its climb among the largest holders on the network.

Since then, the address has grown its balance past 1.8 billion XRP, placing it directly alongside accounts controlled by major cryptocurrency exchanges and Ripple’s massive reserves.

Ownership Remains Unidentified

Because the account lacks a public label, several possibilities exist regarding who controls it. For instance, the address might belong to a trading platform that simply hasn’t been publicly tagged by blockchain analytics firms. Alternatively, it could function as an institutional custody address holding funds for a diverse clientele.

Major custodians routinely utilize single blockchain addresses to manage assets for institutional clients and other users. Consequently, this multi-billion-dollar balance does not automatically mean a single individual commands all 1.8 billion XRP.

Another theory is that the address belongs to a wealthy investor or a separate entity that prefers to keep its holdings private. However, existing on-chain metrics cannot definitively confirm who manages the account.

Why The Wallet Matters

Traders and market observers closely track massive XRP addresses because substantial fund movements frequently occur between custodial services, exchanges, and private wallets. While transfers directed to exchange addresses can signal readiness for trading activity, shifts between institutional or private wallets can carry entirely different meanings.

For the time being, the address stands out as one of the network’s premier unidentified accounts. Its valuation exceeding $2.7 billion and its eighth-place standing ensure it will remain a heavily watched entity, even as its true ownership stays under wraps.
