A video shared by crypto commentator Crypto Dyl News (@cryptodylnews) raised questions about whether Ripple’s top leadership truly believes in XRP.
The post featured footage of Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and CTO Emeritus David Schwartz responding to the same inquiry about where they envision XRP and Ripple in five years.
According to Crypto Dyl News, their replies signaled a lack of confidence that should worry the XRP community. At the time of the video, XRP traded at $1.28, marking a 24-hour drop of 3%. While that decrease could be linked to the recent Binance hack, Crypto Dyl News raised separate concerns regarding the cryptocurrency’s future.

Comments From Ripple Executives
Asked about his five-year outlook for XRP, Garlinghouse stated that the asset “will continue to break out as the institutional gold standard for crypto.” Meanwhile, Schwartz pointed to mass retail adoption arriving inside that timeframe.
Crypto Dyl News viewed both statements with concern. He pointed out that Garlinghouse took a pause prior to answering, interpreting it as a sign of weak conviction, while Schwartz’s reply troubled him for an entirely different reason.
The Institutional vs. Retail Divide
Crypto Dyl News argued that XRP was originally designed and marketed with institutional adoption in mind. Financial infrastructure, payment providers, and banks served as the foundational use case. From his perspective, for Schwartz to highlight mass retail adoption as a five-year goal misses the core purpose of the asset.
“The whole point of XRP is INSTITUTIONAL adoption, not RETAIL adoption,” he posted, labeling Schwartz’s response as embarrassing and suggesting it undermines faith in Ripple’s vision for XRP.
He did leave room for nuance, noting that the executives might simply be exercising caution because a major announcement is underway that they cannot yet discuss publicly. However, he emphasized that if that is not the situation, their answers reflect poorly on management.
Holders are Running Out of Patience
Crypto Dyl News emphasized that he is not alone in his worries. Describing himself as part of the top 0.1% of global XRP holders who reviews community discussions daily, he observed persistent frustration among peers.
XRP investors have grown fatigued as positive announcements—such as those from the Ripple Swell conference—consistently fail to drive price gains, creating a stark contrast between narrative and market performance.
While clarifying that he is not selling and remains focused on the long term, he candidly called the circumstances “ridiculous” and used his platform to speak out.
David Schwartz Responds
Schwartz issued a reply to clarify his stance, writing, “I don’t think institutional adoption is the end. I think it’s going to lay the groundwork over the next two years for mass retail adoption. That’s why it matters!”
Crypto Dyl News acknowledged the explanation, stating he valued Schwartz’s candor, though he maintained that institutional adoption remains the primary source of value.
He argued that the initial phrasing felt dismissive to supporters who spent years being told institutions were the ultimate target. Furthermore, he noted that his main frustration persists: watching XRP drop despite strong updates while competing tokens climb on minor catalysts.
