XRP Army Reacts As Ripple CEO Says Don’t Bet Everything On XRP

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has made an unexpected admission regarding Solana while addressing the reasons investors might select XRP over alternative cryptocurrencies.

A crypto enthusiast named Diana shared a post on X featuring Garlinghouse’s statements, which included his confession that he holds some SOL and does not view Solana as a direct rival to Ripple. His remarks likewise push back against the notion that Ripple’s executive leader ought to advocate for XRP to the exclusion of other major digital assets.

Brad Garlinghouse Recommends Holding Multiple Cryptocurrencies

During the conversation, an audience member questioned Garlinghouse on why an investor should pick XRP over Solana and asked him to compare the two assets.

Garlinghouse declined to urge investors to buy XRP exclusively. Instead, he outlined the strategy he advises for individuals close to him.

“What I honestly tell my close friends is I’m not here to convince you to buy XRP,” Garlinghouse said. “What I would tell you is buy the top five and hold them for the next five years, and you’re going to do great.”

Garlinghouse subsequently revealed that he owns a portion of Solana. He also rejected the title of XRP maximalist, clarifying that he stays bullish on multiple digital assets for various reasons.

“So I own a little bit of Solana,” he stated. “I’m not one of these people who’s an XRP maximalist. I’m bullish on a bunch of cryptos for a bunch of reasons.”

His commentary frames diversification as his preferred strategy rather than putting all focus into XRP alone.

Garlinghouse Says XRP And Solana Can Both Perform Well

Garlinghouse also detailed why he thinks Solana has drawn substantial liquidity, pointing to meme coin activity on the Solana layer-1 network as a primary driver of capital into that ecosystem.

“Solana obviously leaned into the meme coin activity, and it drove a lot of liquidity,” he noted. Garlinghouse later added that meme coins developed on Solana helped boost the network’s liquidity levels.

He then invited investors to look at both digital assets instead of treating the choice as mutually exclusive.

“I’m not going to try to convince you of that because I’m like, look, buy both,” Garlinghouse remarked. He mentioned that he anticipates strong performance from both Solana and XRP.

Garlinghouse noted that their future trajectories might vary depending on upcoming developments for Ripple and the Solana Foundation, though he maintains that Solana is not a direct challenger to Ripple.

“I don’t consider Solana a competitor,” he stated. “I mean, I’m friendly with them. There are others I would say we compete with maybe a little more than that.”

Ultimately, Garlinghouse voiced backing for the Solana network, noting, “I root for Solana for sure.”

Diana’s Post Draws Different Reactions

Diana’s shared post also generated differing responses from online commentators. Spawn rider came to the defense of Garlinghouse’s stance, arguing that the Ripple chief executive does not need to adopt an XRP maximalist mindset and asserting that different cryptocurrencies serve distinct functions.

Conversely, RYNO took an opposing view, stating a preference for executives who maintain explicit maximalist stances regarding their chosen assets. He pointed specifically to Michael Saylor’s advocacy for Bitcoin and raised questions about whether corporate leaders ought to hold personal assets that rival their own companies.

Overall, Garlinghouse’s comments highlight that he personally holds SOL, supports multiple digital currencies, and does not view Solana as a direct competitor to Ripple. His recommendation to maintain a basket of leading assets across a five-year horizon further illustrates the diversified outlook he outlined during the session.
