Brazilian market operator CSD BR, which manages trillions in registered assets, has selected the XRP Ledger for a live implementation.
This move marks one of the network’s most notable institutional adoption milestones to date. Financial market infrastructure provider CSD BR has begun integrating the ledger into its regulated securities systems, as reported by a local media outlet, with Ripple spearheading the project.
A Regulated Operator of Enormous Scale
As part of Brazil’s regulated capital market framework, CSD BR manages asset registration and central securities depository operations, alongside other services. Key Brazilian financial authorities, such as the Central Bank of Brazil, grant authorization to the firm.
According to Ripple executive Luke Judges, CSD BR oversees over BRL 22 trillion ($4.23 trillion) in registered assets, while Brazil stands as the world’s 10th-largest economy. These metrics highlight the significance of this collaboration.
This is the first time the XRP Ledger is publicly being integrated into core financial market infrastructure of this scale.

How the Rollout Will Begin
Initially, the XRP Ledger will function as a secondary auditing and record-keeping layer for investment fund shares managed by CSD BR. BTG Pactual, one of Brazil’s premier banking institutions, is providing the initial assets. The ledger links directly with infrastructure already functioning inside regulated capital markets.
Judges characterized this as the initial public integration of the XRP Ledger into core financial market infrastructure of such magnitude. He added that the endeavor could pave the way for a substantial portion of Brazil’s enormous fixed-income market to transition onto the ledger.
From Pilot Projects to Live Operation
The project seeks to move beyond traditional proof-of-concept phases. Silvio Pegado, Managing Director for Latin America at Ripple, highlighted the shift from trial runs to live national capital-market infrastructure as a significant achievement for the broader distributed-ledger sector.

Why CSD BR Selected the Network
Judges noted that CSD BR chose the XRP Ledger because it was engineered specifically for financial applications, describing it as “purpose-built for financial use cases.” He further explained that the network connects seamlessly with current regulated infrastructure without requiring complex modifications.
Currently, CSD BR incorporates a single blockchain within its technology stack. Judges stated that XRPL serves as “the only blockchain in the stack” at present, giving the XRP Ledger an exclusive function instead of placing it as one of many networks in a multichain test.
Path Ahead for the Fixed-Income Market
The deployment kicks off with fund shares originating from a single bank. Judges connected future expansion potential to Brazil’s vast fixed-income market, which could see a major migration onto the XRP Ledger. The sheer volume of assets managed by CSD BR gives substantial weight to this possibility.
