David Schwartz’s XRP Price Update

Ripple CTO David Schwartz offered a humorous literal price update when critics asked about XRP's value, as community frustration grows over the token's market performance and the expansion of RLUSD.

David Schwartz’s XRP Price Update

David Schwartz has never been known for taking himself too seriously, and his latest reply to critics offers a clear example of that trait. Crypto commentator Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) highlighted a recent exchange involving Schwartz on X.

When someone asked Schwartz for an update on XRP’s price—a frequent request from community members often hoping to uncover Ripple’s strategy for boosting the asset’s value—Schwartz instead offered a literal market update. He stated that the price of XRP was “around $1.30 or so, up 2.4% in the past 24 hours.” Digital Asset Investor found the reply amusing, describing it as a “smart aleck answer.”

He also noted that attacks directed at Schwartz and Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse regarding XRP had been “crazy the last few days.” The interaction demonstrates that Schwartz remains unfazed by the ongoing criticism surrounding Ripple’s leadership while maintaining his characteristic sense of humor.

The Criticism Surrounding Ripple Leadership

Scrutiny directed at Schwartz and Garlinghouse has ramped up recently. Community members and commentators have raised questions about XRP’s role in Ripple’s business amid expanding RLUSD activity. Some observers have questioned whether Ripple’s payment volumes directly benefit XRP holders, noting that the token’s price action has not reflected those metrics.

Others have interpreted public statements from executives as lacking confidence. RLUSD has become a significant flashpoint, with critics arguing it is gradually supplanting XRP. Although Ripple has continually stressed that RLUSD will not replace XRP, the token’s struggle to gain value despite favorable market developments has left many investors discouraged.

Schwartz has continued engaging in these discussions. Following questions regarding his five-year vision for XRP, he took to X to clarify his perspective, explaining that institutional adoption lays the necessary groundwork for retail participation to follow.

Where XRP Stands Now

When Schwartz provided his initial price update, XRP was hovering near $1.30. Since then, the token has pulled back and is currently trading at $1.21, reflecting a loss of more than 7% over 24 hours amid broader market volatility.

XRP has found it difficult to sustain recent gains, and responses to the executive’s comments included plenty of backlash from users unimpressed by the lighthearted approach.

Even though analysts remain confident in XRP’s future, market participants are growing increasingly frustrated by the asset’s repeated inability to establish upward momentum. Holders continue to question how Ripple’s corporate partnerships and expansions will ultimately translate into higher prices for XRP.
