Here’s Why Today Is a Big Day for XRP Holders

Taking place today, October 3, at the Grand Hyatt Seoul, XRP Seoul 2026 is a featured component of Korea Blockchain Week.

Crypto influencer Amelie (@_Crypto_Barbie) posted a video featuring an XRPL Zone digital billboard displayed on a public advertising kiosk right in the center of the city. She termed the conference “BIG” and proclaimed that “UPTOBER WILL BE BULLISH.”

Event organizers project an attendance of over 3,000 participants representing 100 companies. Discussions at the conference span real-world asset tokenization, decentralized finance, stablecoins, and institutional finance, making it a major highlight for XRP holders.

A Heavyweight Lineup

The roster of speakers boasts significant institutional importance. Ripple President Monica Long leads the agenda alongside Marcus Infanger, RippleX Senior Vice President. South Korea’s financial sector is also strongly represented, with senior leaders from Woori Bank, Kakao Bank, Kbank, and Kyobo Securities taking part in the presentations.

Ripple’s Progress in South Korea

Throughout 2026, Ripple has established a robust institutional framework across South Korea. In April, the company teamed up with Kyobo Life Insurance to test the settlement of tokenized South Korean government bonds utilizing Ripple Custody. Designed to bypass the traditional T+2 timeframe, this collaboration aims for near-instant settlement. Kyobo manages assets exceeding $92 billion, positioning it among the nation’s premier life insurers.

During the same month, Ripple revealed a partnership agreement with Kbank—South Korea’s inaugural internet-only bank—to build institutional digital asset wallet capabilities. Additionally, Kbank tested a blockchain cross-border settlement system linked to international money movements.

A third agreement followed in August, when Ripple integrated Ripple Payments with Jeonbuk Bank, establishing it as the country’s first regional bank to utilize the technology for cross-border transfers. This system finalizes transactions in mere seconds or minutes, a stark contrast to the multi-day wait times demanded by SWIFT.

More Advancements in the Region

Regarding stablecoins, Ripple widened the availability of RLUSD by securing listings across all four primary South Korean cryptocurrency exchanges: Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit. Upbit accounts for roughly 70% of the South Korean digital asset market, where XRP frequently commands more trading volume than both Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The Reason for the Excitement

XRP already maintains a commanding position in South Korea. Achieving three official banking alliances, prominent exchange support for RLUSD, and developing tokenized bond systems within the span of a single year demonstrates tangible institutional headway.

Even so, reactions have not been universally enthusiastic. XRP has struggled to capitalize on recent positive news, and a community member suggested that the asset will see no price movement following the event. Today’s gathering brings Ripple executives and South Korea’s leading financial firms onto a shared stage, cementing its importance for the XRP community.
