XRPN Skyrockets While XRP Nosedives. What’s Happening?

Crypto commentator Nate (@natebridges51) recently pointed out a noticeable divergence in the market via an X post. XRPN, the stock associated with Evernorth’s XRP treasury, jumped 68.25% on the day of his post, bringing its weekly gains to 272.6%.

At the same time, the price of XRP fell 2.67% to $1.46, accompanied by a 24-hour trading volume of $4 billion. Summarizing the situation, he simply asked, “make it make sense.”

What Just Happened?

Dedicated entirely to an XRP treasury, Evernorth Holdings is a digital asset treasury firm that entered the public markets via a merger with SPAC Armada Acquisition Corp. II. Armada shareholders voted in favor of the business combination on September 30, with the news announced on October 1. The stock is anticipated to launch trading on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN on October 8.

Holding roughly 473 million XRP, Evernorth stands as the largest publicly traded XRP treasury business. The company is backed by investors such as Ripple, Arrington Capital, SBI Group, Pantera Capital, Kraken, and GSR, and the deal successfully secured over $1 billion in total funding.

Unlike passive cryptocurrency funds, Evernorth intends to actively manage its assets through participation in the on-chain ecosystem, liquidity provision, and lending. Its objective is to increase the amount of XRP held per share as time goes on.

Why This Should Be Good for XRP

The introduction of a publicly listed XRP treasury company offers institutional investors a regulated pathway to gain exposure to XRP without needing to hold the digital asset directly. Furthermore, Evernorth’s continuous acquisition of XRP is designed to stimulate institutional demand, which theoretically supports the token’s market price.

Additionally, the listing increases the visibility of XRP within traditional financial markets by making it accessible alongside other assets in standard brokerage accounts. Despite these factors, the encouraging developments have not positively impacted XRP’s price, leaving many observers frustrated by this trend.

The Community Weighs In

Reactions from the community reflect surprise and confusion. One user noted that trading for XRPN has not officially begun and is scheduled for October 8, meaning the stock experienced a massive rally even before the merged entity started trading.

Another member of the community raised the possibility that retail holders of XRP might be acting as exit liquidity for early investors, voicing worries that Evernorth insiders could profit at the expense of retail traders.

Meanwhile, another commenter labeled XRP the biggest scam. XRP has dealt with accusations of being a scam for years, and its ongoing failure to capitalize on positive momentum continues to breed frustration.

The Core Tension

Although the shareholder vote succeeded and the stock listing approaches, XRP’s price has declined. This has created a scenario where the equity of a company holding 473 million XRP is soaring while the underlying cryptocurrency drops in value. It remains to be seen whether this discrepancy will narrow once XRPN officially commences trading on October 8.
