Top XRPL Validator Says Pay Attention to This At XRP Seoul

XRP Ledger validator Vet (@Vet_X0) drew attention to a key takeaway from the XRP Seoul conference by sharing a video on X of Ripple President Monica Long outlining the firm’s 2027 strategy, which centers primarily on driving volume onto the XRPL.

Vet highlighted that payments and credit represent a massive unlock, especially via the XLS-66 Lending Protocol, describing the combination as powerful.

Monica Long on the 2027 Vision

Long outlined the company’s stance explicitly. “XRP Ledger is really at the center of our universe,” she stated, explaining that Ripple is shaping its 2027 annual plan around the primary company objective of steering customer transaction volume directly onto the XRP Ledger.

Highlighting the payments sector first, she noted that adoption and volumes for Ripple’s full-stack payments infrastructure have surged 10x year over year. Long views RLUSD as a definitive pathway for routing that volume onto the XRP Ledger.

Payments on the Decentralized Exchange

Long additionally discussed advancements in a pilot exploring the use of the decentralized exchange for XRP Ledger payments, which demonstrated tangible benefits and evolved Ripple’s operational perspective.

While initial assumptions suggested financial institutions would connect directly to the blockchain to interact with the DEX amongst themselves, Ripple realized that institutional readiness demands robust compliance, privacy, and control mechanisms.

Consequently, Ripple adopted a refined model where it manages these requirements on behalf of its customers. Long characterized payments on the DEX as “a key part of the engine that sits under the hood” of Ripple’s payment framework, anticipating substantial growth in 2027 beyond the pilot phase.

Credit Meets the XRP Ledger

This development bridges directly with Vet’s focus on the XLS-66 Lending Protocol. A multitude of Ripple’s payment clients, especially payment service providers, depend on short-term credit to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 funding across different time zones as a standard part of their business.

To address this, Ripple is designing an integration with the XRP Ledger’s lending protocol. Once operational, liquidity pools of XRP supplied to the protocol will function as collateral to support customer payments.

XRP Utility Across the Stack

Long concluded that this initiative highlights novel utility cases for XRP across Ripple’s ecosystem, covering customer transactions in both payments and credit. Vet’s analysis supports this view, indicating that the firm’s XRP-driven infrastructure is establishing concrete commercial use cases across two primary product divisions ahead of full deployment planned for 2027.
