Good News for XRP Long-term Holders from Uphold

Uphold has rolled out an inheritance function that enables customers to assign a beneficiary to their XRP, providing long-term investors with a mechanism to pass digital assets on to loved ones in the event of their passing.

Cryptocurrency commentator Steph Is Crypto shared the update on X, highlighting the importance of being able to maintain an XRP position for 5, 10, or even 20 years while simultaneously setting up future asset distribution.

Uphold Adds Inheritance to Its Vault

Steph Is Crypto revealed that Uphold has introduced what was characterized as “$XRP INHERITANCE.” This capability permits users to designate a beneficiary who gains access to their XRP following a successful verification process.

This update addresses a real-world consideration for digital asset investors who plan on keeping their holdings for extended periods. By extending ownership beyond the initial investor, the function enables the transfer of XRP to a chosen relative post-mortem.

The analyst posted, “You can now name a beneficiary and pass your XRP to your family after a verified claim.”

Steph Is Crypto additionally tied the tool to the extended time horizons that numerous XRP participants adopt for their portfolios. The message noted, “We talk about holding XRP for 5, 10 or 20 years,” followed by the observation, “Now you can hold it BEYOND YOUR OWN LIFETIME.”

Simon McLoughlin Explains the Vault

Uphold CEO Simon McLoughlin elaborated on the inheritance tool within a video accompanying the social media post. He stated that Vault continues to be among the offerings he takes the most pride in at Uphold, defining it as a solution intended to deliver the advantages of self-custody to everyday consumers.

McLoughlin noted that Vault enhances traditional self-custody frameworks by providing a key recovery option if a customer misplaces their key. He characterized the system as a blend of self-custodial safety and trading ease.

Per McLoughlin, customers preserve safeguards against outside interference blocking access to their capital while simultaneously keeping use of Uphold’s exchange capabilities.

XRP and Bitcoin Can Be Passed to Beneficiaries

McLoughlin further noted that Uphold integrated this inheritance capability in 2026. The functionality enables customers to transfer either XRP or Bitcoin to a recipient they select.

He characterized the workflow as protected and automated, adding that Uphold views the option as a streamlined method for individuals to store funds on the network.

This functionality introduces another element for XRP investors to evaluate when organizing multi-year strategies. By permitting individuals to select a beneficiary and set up a verified claim mechanism, Uphold has incorporated estate planning elements into its Vault service for supported cryptocurrencies.
