Crypto commentator Mason Versluis has a straightforward message for XRP skeptics: given that the asset has already surpassed $3.50, he contends that writing off $5 as impossible makes very little sense.
“Sorry to say it but if you are out here saying XRP can’t hit $5+ while having already hit $3.50+,” he wrote, “you need serious common sense help.”
XRP’s Price History Backs His Stance
XRP has climbed past $3 on multiple occasions throughout its history. It first achieved this during its 2018 all-time high, and then repeated the milestone in January 2025 following a breakout of over 500% at the close of 2024. During this latter instance, it sustained its position longer and rose to become the market’s third-largest cryptocurrency.
In July 2025, the token reached a new all-time high of $3.65. Because each of these surges followed extended stretches of suppressed price movement—proving the asset’s ability to maintain and build upon key thresholds—Versluis bases his viewpoint on this established track record.
Far from being a random guess, the $5 objective is located approximately 37% above the current all-time high, with multiple experts anticipating that XRP can reach that threshold. By historical measures, this represents a modest extension for a digital asset that has previously gained thousands of percent in a single cycle.
The Community Responds
Versluis’s post generated a variety of reactions, leaning primarily toward support. Well-known community member Zach Rector backed the commentator’s perspective, while another participant conceded that $5 is achievable, though cautioned that the timeline remains uncertain and many treat it as a guarantee.
Conversely, one user argued that over a decade of market data demonstrates XRP’s underperformance. Pointing to a recent Coindesk observation that XRP has failed to keep pace with other major assets by omitting a prior reclaim of its 2018 high, this commenter maintained that $5 will not materialize prior to 2030.
Another respondent criticized the wider narrative by labeling price forecasters as “pumpers” who are “completely full of SHIT,” while a separate user suggested that inflation makes the target statistically less probable with each passing year.
Additionally, a user asked how many years it took XRP to move past $3.50 to imply that reaching $5 will require significantly more time. Another participant observed that, unlike other cryptocurrencies, XRP has not solidified its standing above $3 for a sustained period since 2014, let alone moved closer to higher price points.
