Financial stakes are top of mind for the XRP community following commentary from Future XRP (@the5blairs), who outlined two distinct possibilities for XRP investors. The resulting reaction from members highlights just how much depends on which outcome materializes.
Under the first scenario, Ripple relies on retail investors to finance its operations via sales of XRP. In this view, XRP would serve no significant purpose other than covering gas fees while Ripple shifts its focus to its RLUSD stablecoin.
Under the second scenario, Ripple constructs the Internet of Value. Here, XRP functions as a bridge asset to transfer value across modern financial frameworks, while RLUSD manages payment flows denominated in dollars.
Two possible scenarios.
1. Ripple is using retail to fund their company through the sell of ripple:native and has no plans to use ripple:native for anything but paying gas fees as they pivot towards $RLUSD.
2. Ripple is building the Internet of Value and ripple:native will…

How the Community Responded
The vast majority of community members favored the second scenario. One user stated they hoped option two is correct, adding they would feel they wasted their time on the cryptocurrency otherwise. Another participant similarly voiced backing for the second scenario.
To support the bridge asset perspective, Rob Cunningham posted an illustrative graphic depicting XRP as a provider of open interoperability and on-demand liquidity across sovereign financial networks. He anticipates the digital asset will function as a bridge for a worldwide financial ecosystem encompassing multiple sovereign frameworks.
Pushback Against Scenario One
Optimism was not universal. One respondent proposed a third possibility, claiming Future XRP lacked understanding. Still, the heaviest criticism targeted the first scenario because it severely diminishes the utility and potential of XRP.
A community member characterized the first scenario as a potential crime where retail investors would ultimately bear the negative consequences. Another argued that the first outcome offers holders no future, predicting that participants would eventually grow weary and exit the market.
Supporting Price Growth
Even the first scenario comes with an argument regarding price. Should Ripple persist in selling XRP to finance business operations, consistent institutional-level demand originating from the company itself ensures a persistent buyer remains active in the market. Liquidity and retail interest endure so long as Ripple’s operations demand them.

The second scenario presents a more compelling thesis. Utilizing XRP as a bridge asset within a worldwide payment network generates recurring, structural demand. Every cross-border settlement processed through XRP necessitates that the token be purchased, utilized, and sold.
The operation of RLUSD within the same infrastructure brings additional volume and credibility to the network. As more payment corridors embrace this setup, consistent demand for XRP increases. This outcome positions XRP as a vital component of global finance. Although both options create demand, only one constructs enduring value, and the community is well aware of which one it supports.
