Anodos Finance is expanding to Solana after three years on the XRP Ledger, citing slow development rollouts, missing integrations, and developer resource shortages as key reasons for the transition.

Another Major XRP Ledger-Based Project Moves to Solana. Here’s why

Panos, the CEO of Anodos Finance, has outlined the reasoning behind the firm’s expansion to Solana following a three-year tenure building solutions exclusively on the XRP Ledger (XRPL).

He pointed to sluggish rollouts for critical network capabilities, absent integrations, and insufficient developer resources as primary roadblocks hindering the development of the organization’s intended financial super app.

While this transition marks a pivotal pivot toward Solana, Panos emphasized that Anodos Finance remains committed to supporting the XRPL ecosystem and keeping XRP central to its overarching business model.

Panos Cites Delays in XRPL Development

In a social media post, Panos shared that Anodos Finance spent over twelve months negotiating ecosystem enhancements with Ripple and fellow stakeholders before opting to scale onto an alternate blockchain. The chief executive stated that despite numerous commitments made to the firm, the majority have gone unfulfilled.

He pointed out that corporate red tape, unmet timelines, and a general lack of urgency proved to be ongoing obstacles. Furthermore, Panos recalled that Anodos Finance took part in Ripple’s XRPL accelerator initiative last year alongside nine other ventures. Highlighting that Anodos Finance is reportedly the sole survivor of that cohort still actively developing on the XRPL, he used the example to underscore the severe headwinds builders encounter.

Top priorities for Panos include batch transactions and sponsored fees. He noted that batch functionality is essential for consumer-facing software to streamline intricate on-chain tasks, whereas sponsored fees and reserves would lower entry hurdles for individuals new to digital assets.

Even so, he remarked that batch transactions have suffered indefinite setbacks, and developers are still awaiting the arrival of sponsored fees—a feature he anticipated would advance to a voting phase during the first quarter.

Missing Integrations Affect Anodos Finance’s Plans

Panos additionally pointed to deficiencies regarding payment infrastructure, liquidity pools, and financial asset access as barriers holding back the rollout of the company’s prospective consumer platform.

He asserted that Anodos Finance previously explored Visa payment rail integration alongside Ripple, noting that Visa showed a willingness to clear transactions on the XRPL via RLUSD. However, he maintained that Ripple failed to execute the required follow-through work.

The CEO elaborated that the XRPL continues to lack multiple connections and tools sought by Anodos Finance for its financial offerings, citing a shortage of fiat on- and off-ramps, card issuers, tokenized real-world assets, yield-generating stablecoins, and deeper decentralized exchange liquidity.

According to Panos, these constraints stopped the business from releasing its intended super app last year. He also disclosed that Anodos Finance has yet to generate revenue from the products it engineered on the XRPL because batch processing is still unsupported.

Why Anodos Finance Chose Solana

Panos characterized Solana as a far more robust ecosystem for the company’s immediate requirements, highlighting its deep liquidity, established integrations, decentralized finance protocols, and developer-friendly environment.

He observed that Solana has matured past speculative meme coins and trading, evolving into a powerhouse for decentralized finance and real-world asset tokenization. By comparison, Panos stated that talks involving the XRPL stalled out for over a year, whereas dialogues with the Solana Foundation yielded tangible progress within days.

Nonetheless, he reiterated that Anodos Finance is not walking away from the XRPL entirely. Its existing decentralized exchange, developer sandbox, testnet utilities, passkey wallet, and infrastructure contributions will stay online.

Financial Super App Remains the Priority

Panos indicated that the financial super app will emerge as the primary focus for Anodos Finance, with the bulk of engineering efforts shifting to Solana. The enterprise intends to keep tracking updates on the XRPL alongside the upcoming Axelar bridge designed to link the two networks.

He added that XRP will stay at the core of the enterprise strategy, pointing out that its presence on Solana opens up fresh possibilities to build out new functionalities for XRP owners.

Ultimately, Panos envisions an application that merges banking, savings, spending, investing, borrowing, and access to traditional assets like equities, commodities, and real estate across multiple chains.

He concluded that customers ought to be able to navigate these tools without needing to master underlying blockchains, bridges, or network fees. Instead, Anodos Finance plans to put self-custody, privacy, censorship resistance, and an intuitive user experience first as it drives forward broader decentralized finance adoption.
